In mid-March, Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines, was placed under lockdown to prevent the spread of the corona virus. This measure affects around half the population of the Philippines. In the metropolitan area of Manila, a city of over 13 million inhabitants, everyone must also stay at home.
What are the consequences of confinement for the population? How are they coping with confinement? And how are social movements organising themselves in this context to continue defending everyone's rights?
Our partners regularly send us short videos bearing witness to life in confinement. Here is the testimony of Roneo «Jigs» Clamor, deputy secretary-general of the Philippine human rights organisation Karapatan.
