Now that several vaccines against Covid 19 have been approved and vaccination campaigns have begun in various countries, hopes are growing that the pandemic may soon be brought to an end. But No one will be safe until we are all safe. That's why it's vital that the vaccine is accessible to everyone. And to achieve this, we need to take action. Share the vaccine, not the virus!
Medical apartheid in Palestine
In recent weeks, Israel has been held up as an example. Nowhere else has a larger proportion of the population been vaccinated. If all goes according to plan, within a few weeks all Israeli citizens will have received their dose against COVID-19. But while 750,000 illegal settlers in the West Bank receive their vaccine, Palestinians remain on the sidelines. The Israeli government is doing nothing to protect the millions of Palestinians living under its military occupation.
Global medical apartheid
Globally too, a form of medical apartheid is threatening. More than half the vaccines against COVID-19 have been distributed in just 10 rich countries. At the same time, more than 100 countries have not yet vaccinated any of their citizens.
During our webinar, we will look together at the obstacles preventing rapid global immunity and examine the actions needed to expand global access to COVID-19 vaccines.
