In this spring, which has been disrupted by health measures, many races and trails have been cancelled or postponed. That didn't discourage Sille. She was determined to run her first 20km trail for Viva Salud. So she stuck to her fundraising plan and ran the route solo. The result: a great personal challenge and over €2,000 raised for strong public health systems in the face of the Coronavirus.
From idea to action
Sille had never done it before... It all started with a discussion about her first trail experience, which decided Sille to take the plunge. With the Brussels 20km cancelled, she chose the only race that was still organised, the’Ohm Trail in Aywaille. Sille launched her fundraising campaign and began training. Thanks to her perseverance and advice from Viva Salud, she mobilised her network and Facebook contacts. A little bit every day. In the end, she raised over €2,000 on her own!
Staying on course
The trail was eventually cancelled. Sille wasn't discouraged, however, and stuck to her goal. She ran the route planned for the trail solo, accompanied only by a friend to insure her in case of an accident and to take a few photos. She thought she was going to walk 10 km. In the end, she ran 20 with over 1,200 metres of ascent and 3 kilos of food on her back!
A personal and committed challenge
The bottom line: Sille outdid herself in a magnificent individual challenge in aid of a cause close to her heart. Her only regret is that she didn't have more time to complete her list of contacts and raise even more money.
Well done and thank you Sille!
