BNP Paribas Fortis has decided to close our accounts. This is a unilateral decision on their part, with no further explanation provided. We have therefore decided to switch to a more ethical bank.
Towards a more ethical bank
The idea of switch banks It had already been on our minds for a while. Not least because BNP Paribas Fortis is involved in the funding of Israeli settlements in Palestine and that it is engaging in greenwashing. In this regard, we would like to thank the donors who shared their criticisms with us. We had, therefore, fortunately begun to take certain steps, even though we had not intended to organise this transition so abruptly.
What’s changing for you
A large proportion of our donors have opted for a domiciliation. The account change will then take place automatically. You don’t need to do anything.
For those of you who support us through a standing order or who have saved our account number in their list of beneficiaries, we would ask you to‘update our contact details and to use the following Triodos account from now on:

What this means for us
Your regular donations mean a great deal to us. They enable us to support in the long term the work of our partners and social movements in Palestine, the Philippines and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as our work in Belgium, and to take a long-term approach.
We do not currently know why the bank is no longer interested in our profile, but we do have some suspicions. It is likely that BNP Paribas did not appreciate our involvement in the « Don’t Buy into the Occupation »which condemned their involvement in the funding of Israeli settlements.".
The Palestinian people are used to struggling and living with these injustices. To a much lesser extent, we too are now experiencing the consequences of the Israeli occupation. We will stand by your side in this, continuing to fight alongside the Palestinian people.
