Annual Report 2024: A look back at a year in which our partners courageously continued their work in the midst of serious humanitarian crises.
In Palestine, our partners continued to provide care, whatever the cost, in a context of genocide and occupation. The hospitals from AWDA were attacked and destroyed by the Israeli army. In northern Gaza, the hospital endured two sieges in 2024 – the medical staff refused to abandon their patients. Étoile du Sud and Si Jeunesse Savait were mobilised in DR Congo to help displaced persons in the east of the country, while combating the spread of the MPOX virus in the provinces around Kinshasa. To Philippines, Our partners continue their fight for a universal healthcare system. With only 2.16% of GDP spent on health, access to essential care remains out of reach for the majority of the population.
Viva Salud's commitment
Viva Salud has been actively involved in the global movement to end the genocide in Palestine, with a particular focus on the situation of healthcare workers, such as Dr Muhanna, who was abducted by the Israeli army. We have also continued our «Let's take care of healthcare workers» campaign to highlight the precarious situation of healthcare workers around the world.
In April, we met with our partners at the People's Assembly for Health in Argentina. It was not only a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with health activists from around the world, but also a key moment to evaluate our projects.
In a world marked by growing inequalities, international solidarity is more necessary than ever.
