Yet wherever democratic space is threatened, they continue to be intimidated, repressed and murdered.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Activists, healthcare workers and social movements are too often targeted. That is why we are creating the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/episode\/2NS5vlLSfbmf0hgGtzfxex?go=1&amp;sp_cid=57b236b8cff29e59182ce01c451b40fb&amp;utm_source=embed_player_p&amp;utm_medium=desktop&amp;nd=1\">podcast #NotATarget<\/a><\/strong>. Follow with us the stories of those who, through individual struggles, create powerful movements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Let us stand together in defence of activists and our health!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color has-large-font-size wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:800;text-transform:uppercase\"><strong>#NOTATARGET \u2013 THE HISTORY OF ACTIVISTS<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11 months in an Israeli prison<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In this first special episode, we share the story of <strong>Shatha Odeh<\/strong>, aged 60, is an iconic figure in the Palestinian resistance against Israel. Former director of our partner organisation Health Work Committees (HWC) \u2013 which works to provide health services to Palestinians in remote areas of the West Bank \u2013 she was captured at her home and imprisoned for 11 months by the Israeli authorities. The military prosecutor accused her, among other things, of \u201c<em>to have held a position in an illegal association<\/em>\u201d. Criminalised for their work, they are the target of intimidation and imprisonment, and some of their friends and colleagues have already been murdered. Being a health activist in the Philippines\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"152\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/episode\/2ajaEryL8t7InAmVh1YBq6?utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Activism for freedom in Palestine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A prominent figure in the Palestinian women's movement, <strong>Islah Jad <\/strong>is the chairperson of the board of directors of the BISAN Centre for Research and Development, and Professor Bisan supports the Palestinian people's struggle to advance their socio-economic rights in the context of national liberation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Marc Botenga<\/strong> is a Member of the European Parliament and closely follows the European Union's relations with Palestine. In the past, he has been a very active member of Viva Salud, where he remains a member of the board of directors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Together, they discuss Israeli repression against Palestine and the EU's role in perpetuating the conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-spotify wp-block-embed-spotify wp-embed-aspect-21-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: Episode 2.
