Webinar – Covid and Tax Justice: How can we strengthen our healthcare systems?

During the webinar «Health and Fiscal Justice», we will examine the links between tax evasion and the lack of resources for strong public healthcare systems, both in the Global South and here at home.

The coronavirus is wreaking havoc. Hospitals and medical staff around the world are battling waves of infections. Despite a lack of equipment and resources, they are doing everything they can to provide the best possible care for those who are infected.

The current situation shows that our healthcare systems are completely unprepared to deal with a major health crisis. Decades of cost-cutting in healthcare have undermined our ability to respond effectively to the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, every year, huge amounts of money disappear into tax havens around the world. This deprives governments of vast sums of money. Money that could be invested in our health.

During the webinar «Health and Tax Justice», we will be talking to Carine Thibaut (CNCD – Tax Justice), Yves Hellendorff (Health and Solidarity Action Platform and CNE) and Chiara Bodini (Viva Salud). Together with them, we will examine the links between tax evasion and the lack of resources for strong public healthcare systems, both in the Global South and here at home.
