Lindsey is a member of the student movement Comac in Liège. In 2019, she travelled to Palestine where she met Viva Salud's partners. We asked her about the impact of the Israeli occupation on access to vaccines in Palestine and why she supports the European citizens« initiative »No profit on the pandemic".
How do you see access to the vaccine there?
«I don't see how Palestinians can have access to the vaccine when they barely have access to basic medicine. Just going to the doctor, going to hospital, is already very complicated for them. I think the pandemic must have claimed a huge number of victims on the Palestinian side. And access to vaccines is not at all the Israeli government's priority when it comes to giving Palestinians the chance to live decently.»
Why strengthen public healthcare in Palestine?
«I think it would allow all Palestinians to be able to go to the doctor, to have the right to access treatment in the event of illness, to have the right to take care of their health. Just to be able to live decently, without having to give up treatment for things that are perfectly treatable today.»
«That's why I'm supporting the European Citizens» Initiative in favour of vaccines for all. Do you too?"
