Transparency
Our transparency policy is based on the following principles.
- Our transparency policy covers both upstream and downstream transparency. This means that transparency towards our partners and target groups is just as important as transparency towards our funding bodies and donors.
- Communication is tailored to target groups, so that appropriate information is provided in a way that is accessible, understandable and attractive to those for whom it is intended.
- We do not withhold information when it is not necessary, but if we are unable to disclose certain information, we will always give reasons for our decision.
- We ensure that our communication channels are recognisable (logo, name, etc.) and contain contact information. We make a clear distinction between communication by employees or volunteers in their own name and communication on behalf of the organisation.
- We strive to meet all legal requirements in terms of transparency and data disclosure.
- We collaborate on sector initiatives related to transparency.
- At least once a year, we publish a detailed report with an overview of our annual accounts, recent activities and results, gender and environment policy, alliances, membership and finances.

Finance
Income 2023
Our income in 2023 will be more than €2,420,000. This result can be explained by an increase in fundraising, subsidies and other income. The increase in fundraising is explained by the huge response to our emergency appeal for funds for Palestine. We have also seen an increase in subsidies, thanks in particular to an exceptional gesture from the outgoing government. Other income includes additional funding for our work with the People's Health Movement in preparation for an international meeting in 2024.

The year 2023 ended with a positive balance of 99,624 euros. A large part of this amount is made up of funds raised in 2023 but which will be used in 2024 to organise the People's Health Assembly. In addition, fundraising was sufficiently successful to cover expenses and we also received a bequest. This has enabled us to set aside the latter sum for our future programmes.
Expenditure 2023
In 2023, our expenditure exceeded 2,320,000 euros. This represents an increase of almost 400,000 euros on 2022, and is explained by our response to the war in Gaza, with an emergency campaign for our partner AWDA.. This was made possible by a large-scale fund-raising campaign that required investment in fund-raising tools.
We spent around 213,000 euros on our programme in the Philippines, 114,000 euros on our work in DR Congo and 298,000 euros on the programme in Palestine. Expenditure on our work in Belgium totalled 402,000 euros.

Full details of our finances can be found in our annual reportl 2023.
