Volunteering

Viva Salud is fighting for the right to health worldwide. We can only win this fight together. Thanks to the investment, time and financial support of many sympathisers, we can support the fight of social movements for the right to health and social justice.

If you would also like to help us as a volunteer, there are many ways to do so. You can get involved in specific tasks or help us as and when needed, on a regular basis or for a set period of time.

You can volunteer as soon as you turn 16. In certain cases, however, you must apply for authorisation:

if you are looking for work or are a pre-pensioner (SWT), you must complete form C45B and send it to Onem via your mutual insurance company or your auxiliary fund.

if you receive a living wage via the CPAS, you must request authorisation from your file manager at the CPAS

if you receive an allowance via your mutual insurance company, you must request authorisation from the mutual insurance company’s medical officer.

if you are an asylum seeker, contact Fedasil or your CPAS.

As a volunteer with Viva Salud, you are covered by public liability insurance. This means that Viva Salud is liable for any damage you cause to third parties, unless you have committed an intentional fault, or committed a serious fault, or continued to commit a minor fault despite repeated warnings.

As a volunteer, you are also insured against personal injury, for example if you have an accident on your way to work.

Are you interested in joining Viva Salud as a volunteer? Then we invite you to come to our offices to get to know us better. You’ll get to know our other staff, so you’ll know who to contact and we’ll give you information about our work in Belgium and in our partner countries.

Depending on the activities you wish to undertake, we will provide you with the appropriate support, including a briefing, training, documentation and personal guidance.

In this document, you’ll find all the information you need on insurance, contacts, support, etc.
